We are delighted to have been chosen as Winner of a 2010 GlaxoSmithKline IMPACT Award
for ‘Excellence in Community Healthcare’
What was involved?
This prestigious award follows a thorough audit of our organisation by The King’s Fund, a leading think tank in the field of healthcare. AVUK was selected as one of 10 winners from among over 350 applicant charities. The name ‘IMPACT’ derives from the criteria that winners must have demonstrated in their application submissions:
Innovation
Management
Partnership
Achievement
Community Focus
Targeting Need
£25,000 towards family bursaries
At the awards ceremony at London’s Science Museum, AVUK was presented with a cheque for £25,000. This donation will make a significant difference to our Family Bursary Fund and ensure greater equity of access for families who choose for their deaf child to listen and speak.
Training, press and publicity
Other benefits of the award include press and publicity support and 5 days of leadership and management training aimed specifically at voluntary organisations working in the health field from the GSK IMPACT Awards Development Network. The network programme includes sessions on financial management and governance, leadership skills, evaluation, human resource management, presentation skills and fundraising.
Judges’ comments
“AVUK’s interventions result in hundreds of deaf children being able to live in a hearing world with no need for constant intervention. It has an impressive track record and is a worthy winner." " Sir Cyril Chantler, Chairman of The King’s Fund
Thank you!
Thank you to all our families, donors and grant-makers who have so generously supported us and who shape the outcomes we achieve for deaf children. Please do take the time to watch our new three-minute film that was made for the occasion:
